The Lightbourne family has been serving in the islands of Bermuda with Word of Life since 1998.

Edward is Bermudian and Socorro is Hispanic American. As you recognize we are from different backgrounds and may be wondering how our union came to be.

Our meeting took place in Chattanooga Tennessee while at Tennessee Temple University in 1987. We were both training in this academic institution for the Lord’s service.

After much courting & persuasion on my part, Socorro and I married in 1989 and in 1990 God gave us our son Stephen while still living in Chattanooga. In 1991, our second child Samantha was born in Bermuda.

We choose to serve with Word of Life as a mission’s agency because Ed is a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute and School of Youth Ministries. We wholeheartedly see the need of reaching future generations for Christ through Evangelism and Discipleship.

 God has blessed us as a family in seeing many young people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ these past 10 years. He has stretched us beyond our comfort zone and caused us to mature in Him.

We thank God for the numerous prayers and friends who keep us on the mission field. The best is still yet ahead! We invite you to seek us out and become a partner with us in the ministry.
